The Rumney Marsh Academy (RMA) participated in a new day named by Governor Deval Patrick to promote Anti-Bullying Awareness.
Governor Deval Patrick, in order for compliance with the Patrick-Murray administration, named the fourth Wednesday in January “No Name Calling Day” when he signed a piece of anti-bullying legislation in May of 2010. This day was created to promote tolerance for differences, whether they are racial, cultural, etc.

Stay with the Rumney Marsh Reporter for complete coverage of "No Name Calling Day." We'll continue to update the site with pictures from the event, as well as a complete story, including interviews from students and teachers at the school.

    Hungry for the Hunger Games

Cindy Peraza, eighth grader, gets out from an early release day and goes right home. “It’s here! It’s here!” She sits down at her computer desk, logs onto Apple.com/trailers, and clicks on “The Hunger Games.” She sits in awe as Gale sweeps Prim into his arms as Katniss is reaped, Peeta gets chosen as tribute, and Katniss twirls in a dazzling red gown.

Students at the Rumney Marsh Academy who need disciplinary action are often given consequences such as TAPP (temporary alternative placement program), suspension and administrative sessions. However, some of the students that are given these consequences say that it doesn’t help them improve their behavior, but instead they actually enjoy it.

Even though you may be a different than someone else, you are NORMal. Your race, gender, religion and disability are what make you unique.
